Church on Sunday

We hold two services each Sunday. This page explains the format of each one, and answers some questions you may have about coming to church at Christ Church. Everyone is welcome at any of our services.

Sunday Services

10.30am - Sunday Morning Service

We welcome everyone to our weekly Sunday Morning service at 10.30am.

We meet to hear God’s Word to us from the Bible, to sing our praises to God and to talk to him in prayer. We welcome those who aren’t yet sure about the Christian faith just as much as those who are. Once a month at a service of Holy Communion we share bread and wine to remind ourselves of the death of Jesus Christ for us. This is the heart of our faith: God accepts us because Jesus died for us.

The service takes about an hour, and is followed by refreshments.

4.30pm - Sunday Afternoon Cafe Style Service

Also we have a Sunday Afternoon Cafe Style service at 4:30pm.

The service lasts about an hour, includes activities for children and is followed by light refreshments.

Coming to Church - Frequently Asked Questions

What about children and young people?

We have a crèche for the under threes. Those from nursery age upwards are invited to their own activities at Christ Church during the service. Occasionally the adults and children worship together at an ‘All Age’ service.

On Sunday evenings, teenagers from Year 10 and up are welcome to join the Crossover group at St John’s from 8pm.

What should I wear?

Whatever you feel most comfortable wearing. There'll be a wide range from jeans & t-shirts to suits & ties.

What happens when I arrive?

You'll be greeted with a friendly smile and someone will hand you a notice sheet and show you where to sit.

Can I take Communion?

If you are a committed Christian then you are welcome to take communion, whatever your denomination. If you're not, or you're not sure, just stay in your seat when your row is invited to go up to the front.

Will there be a collection?

During the services, no collection is taken. We are grateful for contributions to the work of the church, but don’t want you to feel under pressure to give. There is a box at the back of church for donations.

Are there toilets?

Yes. Someone will point you in the right direction if you ask. We also have baby-changing facilities.
